Beach Tennis Association Code of Conduct

The BTA Code of Conduct establishes the minimum standards for anyone involved with Beach Tennis. It will apply when playing, training or taking part in any BTA activities.

All Beach Tennis Associates:
-Act within the rules and spirit of Beach Tennis
-Encourage and support opportunities for people to learn appropriate behaviors and skills.
-Show respect and courtesy to all involved.
-Respect the rights and worth of every person, regardless of their age, race, gender, ability, cultural background, sexuality or religion. -Respect the decisions of officials and administrators.
-Display appropriate and responsible behavior in all interactions. -Display responsible behavior in relation to alcohol and other drugs. -Act with integrity and objectivity, and accept responsibility for your decisions and actions.
-Ensure your decisions and actions contribute to a safe environment. -Ensure your decisions and actions contribute to a harassment-free environment.
-Do not tolerate abusive, bullying or threatening behavior.

Players:
-Give your best at all times.
-Participate for your own enjoyment and benefit.
-Play by the rules and show respect for other players and officials.
-Any Player that owes BTA dues or tournament entry fees is not eligible to participate in tournaments that pay prize money.

Officials:
-Place the safety and welfare of the athletes above all else.
-Ensure all players are included and can participate, regardless of their race, gender, ability, cultural background, sexuality or religion.
-Be consistent, impartial and objective when making decisions.
-Address unsportsmanlike behavior and promote respect for other players and officials.

Administrators:
-Ensure quality supervision and instruction for players.
-Act honestly, in good faith and in the best interests of the sport of Beach Tennis as a whole.
-Ensure that any information acquired or advantage gained from the position is not used improperly.
-Conduct club responsibilities with due care, competence and diligence.

Spectators:
-Respect the effort and performances of players, officials and administrators.                                                                                --Reject the use of harassment, bullying or violence in any form, whether by other spectators, coaches, officials or athletes.

Beach Tennis Association Disciplinary Measures and Sanctions for Violations of the Code of Conduct:

Adult Players:
I understand that if I do not follow the BTA Code of Conduct, any/all of the following actions may be taken by The BTA Board of Directors or BTA U.S. Competition Committee:
I may:
-Be required to apologize to the other team, official, administrator or the BTA community.
-Receive a formal written warning from the BTA.
-Be dropped or substituted from league play.
-Be suspended from training.
-Be suspended from the BTA event/activity.
In addition:
-The BTA Board of Directors or BTA U.S. Competition Committee could impose a suspension for future BTA events/activities.

Young Players (under age 18):
I understand that if I do not follow the BTA Code of Conduct, any/all of the following actions may be taken by The BTA Board of Directors or BTA U.S. Competition Committee:
Player may:
-Be required to apologize to the other team, official, administrator or the BTA community.
-Receive a formal written warning from the BTA.
-Be dropped or substituted from league play.
-Be suspended from training.
-Be suspended from the BTA event/activity.
In addition:
-The BTA Board of Directors or BTA U.S. Competition Committee may make my parent or guardian aware of any infringements of the Code of Conduct.

Spectators, parents or guardians:
I understand that if I do not follow the BTA Code of Conduct, any/all of the following actions may be taken by The BTA Board of Directors BTA U.S. Competition Committee:
Spectator, parent or guardian may be:
-Issued a verbal warning from a BTA official or administrator.
-Required to meet with the BTA Board of Directors.
-Required to leave the BTA event/activity along with any dependents.
In addition:
-The BTA Board of Directors or BTA U.S. Competition Committee could impose a suspension for future BTA events/activities.
